Master classes are a long-standing tradition in music instruction. They feature three to five student instrumentalists that each perform a short piece that is evaluated by the instructor. The instructor then publicly analyzes a couple of issues with each student to help him or her grow musically. The student participants in the master class performances are selected in advance by pre-screening. All convention attendees are welcome to observe.
